Description: The title of this chapter of the Texas Guardianship Manual – “Foreign Guardianships” – is instructive as to the relationship between Texas courts and other state and territorial guardianship courts. Texas has not adopted the Uniform Adult Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Jurisdiction Act as have 46 states in the Union and several territories. In this session the authors of Chapter 13 of the Texas Guardianship Manual will explore the intricacies of the Texas Estates Code as they relate to practice issues and strategies as well as the approach Texas courts may take when handling interstate guardianship transfers to and from Texas courts.
