Help with a guardianship

You might have arrived here in search of answers to your questions about a guardianship issue in your life.  We hope to provide you with resources that will answer your questions.

TGA is a non-profit professional organization, not a legal firm. We cannot help you with legal advice or with the legal steps involved in filing for a guardianship.  We will provide links to possible low-cost legal aid services around the state.  They may or may not be able to help you.

Guardianship is a legal process whether for adults or minor children.  You might require the help of an attorney to file the proper documents with the court.  There is not a ‘form’ that you can fill out. But there is a process for a Court- Initiated Guardianship.

Please take the time to look over the basics of guardianship page.

That being said, there is help for families that are caring for minor children who are grandchildren, siblings, or nieces/nephews.  Those links are available on the Minor Children page. This is not guardianship, but will allow relatives to register for school, find medical care and add children to their insurance.
